The Associated Student Body (ASB) exists to serve and represent the entire 缅北禁地 student population. The ASB Council is an 18-member group of elected student leaders who volunteer to advance the interests of higher education, coordinate student activities, and improve communication between students, faculty, administration, and the High Desert community. Each year's Council听represents the 缅北禁地 student body through acts of leadership, advocacy and community outreach, accomplishing goals they set at the beginning of their term. Historically, ASB has been responsible for many positive changes at 缅北禁地 and consistently supports and creates events and programs that benefit students and the community. The 缅北禁地 Associated Study Body has been named the "Campus of the Year" by the American Student Association of Community Colleges three times, in 2004, 2008, and 2020.
Here are just a few examples of the types of events ASB contributes to:
鈥 Since 2002, ASB has helped with placing the Flags of Honor, 3,000 American flags which represent those who lost their lives in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Students help handwrite the 9/11 victims' names on cards and attach them to the flags, which are placed on the hillside adjacent to the 缅北禁地 Library.
鈥 ASB sponsors the 缅北禁地 Lecture Series, which celebrates scientific achievements and includes presentations from world-renowned researchers.听From its inception in 2015, the Lecture Series has provided 缅北禁地 students and members of the community with incredible events at no cost to them, including a lecture from听Nobel Laureate Kip Thorne in Jan. 2020.
鈥 Each December, ASB coordinates "Lights of Love," a tradition going on more than 25 years which provides gifts to children of 缅北禁地 students who are听enrolled in specific programs offered at the college. In 2025, over 750 children were provided with gifts thanks to the generosity of the 缅北禁地 campus family.
鈥⑻During the Fall 2019 semester, ASB sponsored the creation of a community garden on campus, inspired by 缅北禁地 agricultural students and the ASB goals established at the beginning of the year, which included campus beautification. The garden was built through a construction technology class and has led to additional discussions of developing a regularly offered class through which students can continue to improve and beautify the 缅北禁地 campus.听

鈥淧ublic Comment is reserved for persons desiring to address the Associated Student Body Council of 缅北禁地 on any matter of concern that is not slated on the agenda. A time limit of 3 minutes per speaker shall be observed. The law does not permit any action to be taken, nor extended discussion of any items not on the agenda. The chair may respond briefly to statements or questions made and consider requests to be placed for discussion on a future agenda.鈥 (Brown Act 搂54954.3)
MEMBERSHIP
All currently enrolled 缅北禁地 students who have purchased a current ASB card shall be considered members of the ASB.
The 18 members of the ASB Council are elected every year in May. ASB also welcomes volunteers! For more information,听call 760-245-4271 ext. 2395.
Students may get their Student ID and ASB Card in the ASB Office once all of their student fees are paid (must have current registration statement). For more information about Student IDs and the benefits of the ASB Card, see the 鈥淪tudent IDs / ASB Cards鈥 tab on the left of this webpage.
The ASB Council certifies each club as a campus organization. Club certification must be renewed each year, meaning the number and variety of clubs change each year. For more information on current clubs and how to start one, see the 鈥淐ampus Clubs鈥 tab on the right of this page.
